Phil Ward

Phil was born and grew up in South West London where he sketched and painted from a very young age. He went on to study briefly at St Martin’s School of Art, before embarking on a career in advertising, Art Directing TV, Radio and print campaigns.

Phil now lives and paints in West Cornwall. He has an insatiable curiosity for the people, animals and landscape that surround him, capturing movement in his work to create a lively picture. Phil paints with a brush and a knife, whether it be on location, from sketches or photographs. He likes to build up layers of paint, with both brush and knife, making marks to capture the moment, giving each finished piece a life of its own.

Phil has exhibited his work both in London and Cornwall and currently has work in private collections in Cornwall, London, Ireland and Germany.
