Karen Carlyon

Karen began to express her creative ideas by taking watercolour classes, later studying ceramics. She spent several years with Paula Downing, hand building large sculptural pieces using various clay bodies.

In 2017 she began working as Hugh West’s apprentice and created her own studio.

Karen now work exclusively in porcelain and fires in a gas kiln.  She mixes her own glazes, taking inspiration from our coastline and long spells watching the movement and colours of the sea.
