Rebecca Jewell

Rebecca lives in Mawgan.  She moved to Cornwall 10 years ago with her husband Simon Jewell also an Artist and photographer.

“I have a real passion for Botanical art having always loved gardening it’s the perfect opportunity to grow the flowers I love. I always work from photographs so taking the photographs has become a very important part of the process seeing the vision of the work you want to create through the lense, sometimes using glass bottles and vases to be part of the finished painting, or focusing in on a small part of the flower. It’s always lovely when people say they can almost smell the scent of the flower or reach in and touch them. Light and shade is also an important part of the composition. I love traditional botanical work and although the flowers themselves are very precise I try to work in a contemporary way”.
