Jo Thomas (not the Wooden Fish Co Jo Thomas!) lives in Falmouth with her family and runs a thriving jewellery business.
In 2010 she made a discovery which changed her practice as a jeweller, she discovered Kazuri Beads.
KAZURI is a Swahili word which means ‘small and beautiful’.
KAZURI BEADS is a collective of 340 women – many single mothers – based in Nairobi, making and hand-painting a range of exquisite original ceramic beads, designed to convey the colours of Africa;
KAZURI BEADS is a member of the World Fair Trade Organisation, striving to achieve sustainable employment for disadvantaged Kenyans.
She is proud to claim that she is the only Craft concern in the UK importing Kazuri Beads; her products are sold at galleries all over Cornwall.
There are many designs to choose from – earrings, bracelets and necklaces of varying sizes in a range of combinations of colours and materials…all ethically sourced and assembled by hand.
The collection of work by KenJo that we exhibit at the Customs House Gallery changes frequently as each piece is so unique. Please contact us should you wish to enquire about our current range.
